CHAPTER 16

Jaden couldn’t believe what they’d done that morning. She’d had her first-ever orgasm with another person, and Ruby had had one with her. Yes, Ruby had been with another girl before, but Jaden believed her when Ruby told her that it hadn’t meant anything and that what she had with Jaden meant everything. Chance and Jo were in the lake, moving around each other and not actually swimming. Every so often, Jo would dunk Chance, or Chance would get onto Jo’s back, and they’d stay like that for a while.

Ruby was sitting behind Jaden, kissing her neck every so often as she held her between her legs. Jaden watched her friends, the water, the trees, and the birds and couldn’t imagine a more perfect day. Ruby’s hand moved under her shirt and cupped her breast. Jaden smirked and laughed when Ruby squeezed it and played with the nipple through her bathing suit.

“You are relentless,” Jaden told her, leaning her head back against Ruby’s shoulder.

“Yes, I am. In all things, I think.”

“Our friends are, like, fifty feet away.”

“They can’t tell what I’m doing.” Ruby slipped her hand inside the bikini top. “And besides, they’re clearly not paying attention to us.”

“They really are cute together,” Jaden noted.

“I hope Chance figures it out,” Ruby replied. “I’d hate to see Jo get hurt.”

“Jo’s great. Head over heels for Chance, too.” Jaden chuckled as Ruby’s hand moved to her other breast, sucking on Jaden’s earlobe. “Babe!”

“Come inside with me,” Ruby requested.

“No way.” Jaden laughed.

“We worked hard on festival stuff this morning, and you were giving me those eyes at lunch,” Ruby told her.

“I was not,” Jaden replied, laughing.

“They’re having fun. We could…”

“Have fun, too? Are you suggesting we’re not having fun right now?” Jaden asked playfully.

“I’m suggesting, we can have a different kind of fun.” Ruby’s hand moved to squeeze Jaden’s breast again. “I liked what we did this morning. We could do that again.”

Jaden wanted to do that again; she really did. But as much as she had loved what they’d done that morning and planned on doing that with Ruby again soon, she didn’t want sex to become the main part of their relationship so soon. They still had so much to talk about and a lot of complications coming up in their lives.

“I want to,” she replied. “But maybe tonight.”

“Tonight?” Ruby checked.

“We have stuff we haven’t been talking about, Ruby.”

“We do?” Ruby asked.

Jaden turned in her arms, which meant Ruby’s hand fell from her body.

“We have the end of the school year stuff, like our proms, and then the festival after that. Chance leaves in July, and I know you’re going to miss her like crazy. We already live an hour apart, and I know it’ll be summer, but my dads aren’t going to let me sleep here or let you sleep there.”

“So, we’ll have some stolen moments,” Ruby said. “We can always come out here, and my parents are gone a lot, so at least during the day–”

“And then we both move,” Jaden interrupted her.
